For taking our celebrations up a notch with a Chinese New Year celebration that brought in students from different ages and the 3 different programs at our school. Visible evidence that we can be "3 great programs in 1 great school."

DCPS Employee

Teacher Armita Meekins at Tubman Elementary School, Ward 1

I would like to thank Ms. Meekins and Ms. Davis, her teacher's aide, for believing in the children that she taught at Parkview Elementary School. Even though their students had the diagnosis of MMR (in a self-contained classroom for 5 years), they were treated like rocket scientists, lawyers, judges, etc. with the utmost respect.. I can never recall my child coming home feeling bad because he had been treated badly. He continued in a self-contained classroom for 4 more years). But the foundation had been set by Ms. Meekins and Ms. Davis. As a result, not only has my child completed high school, but has just successfully completed his first year of college with no accommodations. Thanks Ms. Meekins, you are the best. We will forever owe our gratitude to you and Ms. Davis.

Teacher Ms. Scott at Langdon Elementary School, Ward 5

One of a few exemplary teachers at Langdon, you are so wonderful and the children love you. Together with your aide, your students are generally the best and the brightest. When they leave your pre-k/k Montessori class, they are already leaders and more than ready to face the challenges ahead of them. Kudos to you for your grace under fire and good works.
