Updated LSAT Guidelines Released
.

After a process that included lengthy consultations with many parents, teachers, the Governance Committee, and the WTU, updated Local School Advisory Team guidelines are here at last. These guidelines govern the LSATs (formerly Local School Restructuring Teams).
Hopefully they are clearer and the information in them is easier to find. There are a few changes from the last version (2004), though many elements remain the same, including composition of the team and election practices.
The LSAT is a group of elected and appointed members that exists for every DCPS school. Each team consists of parents, teachers, non-instructional school staff, a community member, and in some cases students, to advise the principal on matters that promote high expectations and high achievement for all students.
Updated guidelines are only one step in a larger revamp process. The next steps include professional development for principals, and continuing professional development for team members.
Thank you to each and every voice that joined the conversation and contributed throughout the process. We look forward to continuing the conversation and working together to build and maintain strong school communities that support our students. Stay up to date on the latest LSAT news and information on our brand new LSAT page.
Questions concerning these guidelines should be sent to lsat.help@dc.gov.
