Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year at DC Public Schools! Like you, I am eager to get the new school year underway this coming Monday, August 22.
The first day of school sets the tone for the entire year, and I hope you will join me in setting high expectations for our students. GREAT schools require the steady support of parents, school staff, and community members.
So here’s what I need from you in order to get our children off to a fantastic start:
If you haven’t turned in your enrollment forms, please stop by your local school’s office and complete them immediately.
Schedule annual doctors and dentist appointments for your children before the start of school and complete the Universal Health Form.
Get your children to school on time on Monday. Don’t allow them to start any day, especially the first, behind the rest of the class.
Participate in at least three school activities with your children: a parent-teacher conference, a volunteer event, and a sporting contest.
Expect your children to do well in school. Tell them you have high expectations for them this year. You are their strongest supporter.
We look forward to staying in touch this school year.
