Chief Operating Officer
Anthony deGuzman is Chief Operating Officer for District of Columbia Public Schools. The Office of the Chief Operating Officer coordinates procurement, realty, textbooks, technology, logistics and warehouse functions, enrollment systems and projections, and food services.
Before joining DCPS in 2007, deGuzman oversaw operations for Jumpstart, a national early childhood education nonprofit. He helped grow Jumpstart from 80 members in 1996 to nearly 4,000 when he left in 2007, making Jumpstart one of the largest part-time AmeriCorps programs in the country.
Since joining DCPS, deGuzman has had a variety of responsibilities, including director of Facilities Modernization and Planning and director of Operations Reform. In these positions, he gained extensive experience collaborating with key agency partners; developing systems that support school opening; and spearheading the alignment of building design efforts to existing and emerging academic goals so that schools can better support teaching and learning.
DeGuzman began his education career in 1994 as a Teach for America sixth-grade teacher in the South Bronx.
DeGuzman has a degree in business administration from Georgetown University.
