Information for Afterschool Providers
The Office of Out-of-School Time Programs (OSTP) is seeking strong community partners to provide afterschool programs in our schools. OSTP also is welcoming all organizations that deliver services to students at their own facilities outside of school buildings and invites them to submit a vetting application as well.
All potential providers must go through a thorough vetting process before being selected to provide services in our schools. The process is a collaborative effort to ensure that all community and neighborhood based organizations that work with our students are stable, effective and able to serve students who are most in need of their services.
DCPS is particularly interested in afterschool services that support student achievement in reading and DCPS strategic goals about achievement:
- Improve Achievement Rates: At least 70% of our students will be proficient in reading and math, and we will double the number of advanced students in the district.
- Invest in Struggling Schools: Our 40 lowest-performing schools will increase proficiency rates by 40 percentage points.
The spring re-vetting cycle for Cohort 2010 afterschool providers (providers that need to reapply after three years) and the vetting cycle for NEW organizations starting programming in the fall of school year 2013-2014 are running concurrently this spring.
From Monday, February 11, 2013 to Friday, March 8, 2013 we will accept re-vetting applications of providers in Cohort 2010 to continue their partnership with OSTP and vetting applications of new organizations seeking to become afterschool service partners next school year
Application submitted after the March 8, 2013 deadline will be reviewed during the next vetting cycle opening in the fall of 2013.
