Teachers are the most important influencers of student academic achievement. As a school district, it is our job to give teachers the critical tools and resources they need to prepare their students for success and accelerate student achievement.

In August 2012, DCPS launched the Educator Portal +.

The online portal is an online comprehensive library of documents, presentations, full lessons and complete units and courses, that supports the adoption of the Common Core State Standards and goals of the DCPS academic plan. Through its social networking functionality, teachers have opportunities to grow professionally and make connections with fellow educators across the district and beyond.

The portal also provides teachers with access to relevant, differentiated, high-quality professional development, including:

  • Teach Libraries: Mini-libraries of resources on how to teach effectively (per the Teaching and Learning Framework).
  • Reality PD: A video library of dozens of video clips showing great teaching by DCPS teachers.

The portal will serve as an important tool for all those who support teachers, including principals, assistant principals, master educators, instructional coaches, related service providers, and central office employees.

The portal is funded by the Race to the Top Fund, the DC Public Education Fund and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
