The Full-Service Schools (FSS) pilot program brings together leading practices from the fields of education and mental health, with the goal of fully serving the entire student population.

Goals of Full Service Schools

  • Academic success for all students
  • Social, emotional, and behavioral well-being for all students
  • A positive and welcoming school climate
  • Strong partnerships between families and schools
  • Coordinated and effective delivery of services and supports

Support Staff in Full Service Schools
Full Service Schools employ instructional coaches and other behavioral and mental health professionals to support students and teachers.

  • Supports present in every Full Service School:
    • Assistant Principal of Intervention
    • DMH or DC START Clinician
    • Wrap Care Coordination
    • Two Instructional Coaches
  • Principal-Chosen Supports (each principal chooses two based on school needs)
    • Student Family Care Coordinator
    • Respect Center Mentor
    • 5-2-1 Mentor
    • Academic Resource Teacher

Essential Elements of Full Service Schools
Educators in the support roles listed above work with school staff toward the implementation of the four Essential Elements of the model:

  • Positive Behavior Support
  • Strategic Design for Student Achievement
  • Systems of Care
  • Inquiry Based Decision Making
