Commitment to Excellence

Throughout the district, we’ve made exciting improvements to our schools – inside and out. We’ve undertaken an aggressive plan to modernize our schools and provide our students with world-class facilities that offer the most up-to-date technology and resources.

We’ve strengthened our academic programs from early childhood through 12th grade to challenge, excite and engage your child. From International Baccalaureate schools, to Dual Language Education Programs and Montessori schools, DCPS is offering a greater variety of rigorous programs that make school fun and prepare our children for college, career and life. We are offering more Advanced Placement and college-level courses in our high schools, giving our middle school students more opportunities to take high school-level classes, and expanding arts, PE, libraries, and world language programs in our elementary schools.

Changes to the process

Beginning this year, all students attending a new DCPS school for the 2013-2014 school year (SY13-14) will submit their enrollment packets to the new school they will attend. If you have any questions, please contact the registrar at your child’s new school.

Important enrollment dates:

  • April 1: Enrollment begins
  • May 1: All enrollment packet materials due for families who applied in the Preschool, Pre-K and Out-of Boundary Lottery and the High School Online Application
  • June 20: Deadline for SY13-14 Enrollment (return enrollment forms to your child’s school for SY13-14

Thank you for choosing DCPS. As parents, we encourage you to be active partners in your children’s education. Meet with teachers early in the year and regularly throughout the year. Learn their expectations for your children and you. Together, we can move achievement levels even further ahead.
