This school is what I've prayed for in regards to my grandchild. When she first entered DCPS Pre-K program, she was energetic, easy and ready to grasp and hone her academic skills and she did. Upon entering first grade at the same school, her mom and I realized she increasingly reluctant and apprehensive about school and the joy of learning had left her. It wasn't her nature to be so distraught about learning so we shored up what she needed to know in order to excel. We prayed and prayed constantly to find a school where the staff was a excited about teaching as she had been about learning.

We were so ecstatic when told she was accepted to Randle Highland. Wow! She hasn't complained at all since the beginning of this school year. The staff is able to keep the children engaged no matter what their economic status. They have a safe, clean and disciplined environment where as the previous school always seemed chaotic, unorganized and unsafe. Security and staff at that school would not even make the teen drop-outs and pot smokers leave the area so that children and their parents would feel some sort of safety when arriving or leaving the property.

Yes, Randle is an outstanding school that recognizes potential in EVERY student. A diamond in the rough show and indeed. The principal is energetic, the staff shows that they are a team with the same purpose in mind and they have effective strategies for keeping the children engaged and interested in their own academic growth.

When you say Eastern, you mean excellence and therefore I give thanks to the E-team at Eastern. My hearty "thanks" goes first and foremost goes to Mr. William C. Chiselom, Principal and the most dedicated group of people he has assembled to take Eastern High School to the next phase. Also, a high-five thank you goes to Allen Lew and company for preparing the new Eastern High School. Let the trumpets play the fanfare of thanks to Mr. James Perry, Director of Bands and the members of the Blue and White Marching Machine. I am thankful for the Rachel Skerritt, Principal-in-Planning for Eastern beginning SY-2011 and beyond. Thanks Kaya Henderson for saying what many have been thinking for a long time "either go-hard or go home."

Most importantly to the Senior Class of 2011 @ Eastern deemed the U-haul group...thank you for sticking-it out as we moved from the raggedy Eastern, to modules and then into the $77-million building that will forever memorialize you as the first group of students to graduate from the facility.

Finally, I give thanks to those who did not give-up on the Pride of Capitol Hill when at times the ride was rough for the Ramblers...and that's especially for MR (you know that I will always keep the faith).

I am thankful for the dedication, care, and ongoing support of the Oyster teachers, staff, and administration.

The teachers strive each day to impart knowledge to my two children and help them succeed in life as well as academically.

The support staff work hard daily to keep the school clean and safe (not easy with hundreds of children running around).

The administration encourages parental involvement yet understands the challenges of parenthood.

The nurse, office staff, and counseling team regularly demonstrate professionalism and concern for my children. They create a safe haven that my kids need when away from home.

I am thankful, every day, to be a part of the Oyster-Adams community.

I have two grandchildren that attend Burrville Elementary School in NE Washington. I just want to say how thankful I am for the wonderful work that is being done on behalf of all the children. My grandchildren love coming to school, they always have something new that they have learned to share with me each day, and they love their pre-kindergarten teacher, Ms. Lee. There is such a positive atmosphere, clean building, and everyone takes an individual interest in each child. The crossing guard, Ms. Jones, the maintence person, Ms. Matthews, and other teachers and aides always greet them daily with a smile and a postive word. I have only good things to say about Burrville and I am happy to see that they continue to earn an A+ from me.

My children are up and gone--good human beings leading good lives with the right values and world view. So much of the credit for that goes to their DCPS teachers, starting with Ms. Kaufman in preK right up through Debbie Murphy, Jill Weiler, Ms. Smith and so many, many others. No one parent could give them what you collectively gave them, or show them what you showed them about themselves. The EHS PTSA, expresses a thank you to Mr. Chiselom for serving as the current principal of Eastern Senior High School. It is of a superlative accolade in recognizing all that you have done to ensure that our children are prepared for the future as productive citizens. It was just a mere three-years ago that you were handed the first-of-it's-kind project of "phasing out" Eastern Senior High and you have maintained the utmost in professionalism and class by carrying out the many unforeseen and daunting tasks.

You have motivated and encouraged many to carry-on in the way that exemplifies that DCPS has chosen the right leader for the right school during our most-trying times.

Again, we as parents say thank you because you have broke the cycle of revolving principals at Eastern and that is a fete that is worthy more than a pat on the back.

Let the record show that you're the first principal of the new Eastern High School and with that we must say thank-you to DCPS, former Chancellor Rhee for listening to the Eastern Family.

I hope that with the school system's and the mayor's help Jefferson will continue to soar and transform into the stellar school they were years ago. Kudos to Ms. Pride and all of the Jefferson staff!

I am so thankful for Burrville ES, it is a really nice school. My children have been going there since October of 2000. I have 2 graduated from high school, one is graduating in 2012, all three of them started out at Burrville. The staff in the office are really great, Mr. Manly and Ms. Davis are always helpful to me. Some of the teachers are still there like Ms. Harper, Ms. LLoyde, and Ms. Lee, it is a comfort to see them every day. Now Burrville is teaching 2 of my grandchildren, and a third one is coming the fall of next year. The teachers there are good to the children, patient and kind to them. I am glad my grandchildren have had their first learning experience at Burrville. GO EAGLES!

I am extremely thankful for David Landeryou and the staff at Key Elementary. Without their guidance and support, I would not be the educator that I am today!
