Dancers perform during the 13th Annual National Latino Art Beat Awards held Oct. 15 at the District of Columbia Public Schools headquarters. With the artwork of talented Latino youth artists as a backdrop, the event featured cultural song and dance performances; a welcome address by Dr. Carey Wright, Chief Academic Officer for DCPS; the Wilson High School Army ROTC color guard; and, of course, an abundance of delicious food.

In addition to national student winners of the Latino Art Beat Awards, several students from Ellington and Wilson high schools were on hand to see the performances, celebrate Latino heritage and see the first-place painting from DC Public Schools: “Mi Revolucion” by Ellington High student Angel Jesus Perez.
