Pay Scales (ET-15 and EG-9)

Salary Increases

ET-15 employees are eligible to progress to the next step on the pay scale after successful completion of the required year(s) of service within their position. The years of service required for each step on the pay scale is outlined below. The EG-9 pay scale has one educational level band, which applies to employees on all educational levels. Please not that teachers can be placed up to a maximum of Step 10 upon hire, based on their years of full-time experience. ET-15 JROTC Instructors do not receive step increases. However, their pay may change annually, based upon the Minimum Instructor Pay provided by the Department of Defense.

ET – 15

  • Step 12:   4 years of service
  • Step 13:   1 year of service
  • Steps 14-16:  2 years of service

EG – 9 and EG – 9 JROTC

Educational Levels

ET-15 employees can receive a salary increase upon completion of additional credit hours by applying for an Educational Level Promotion (ELP). The ET-15 pay scale has five educational level bands, which apply to employees with a Bachelor’s, Bachelor’s + 15 credits, Bachelors+ 30 Credits/Master’s, Master’s + 30 credits, or PhD. To move to the next pay band, one must apply for an Educational Level Promotion (ELP).  Download the ELP guidelines from the "Human Resources Forms" section, accessible from the navigation bar.

The JROTC G-9 pay scale has one educational level band, which applies to employees on all education levels. The JROTC ET-15 pay scale has one educational level band, which applies to individuals with a Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Pay Schedule

10-Month:  The majority of DCPS schools are in session for 10 months, so the majority of WTU members are placed on the 10-month pay scale. Employees on this scale are paid over 12 months, but the salary schedule is based on 10 months of service.  The 10-month scale is for these positions.

11-Month:  Some ET-15 Service Providers are on the 11 month scale, and report to their schools for 11 months per year. The 11-month scale is for these positions.

12-Month:  Some DCPS schools are in session year-round, so ET-15s at these locations are paid on the 12 month scale.  The 12-month scale is for these positions.

WTU EG-9: Employees are paid on a 12 month schedule.

JROTC: All JROTC Instructors are paid on a 12 month schedule.
