Langley Elementary School

Vanessa Drumm is the new principal at Langley Elementary School for School Year 2016-2017. For the past five years, she has worked at Watkins Elementary School, first serving as an instructional coach and then as the assistant principal. Under her leadership at Watkins, the reading proficiency rate increased from 67 percent to 84 percent in one year. Prior to joining DCPS, she taught 4th grade for two years in Fairfax County, VA, where she was nominated for first-year teacher of the year. Before that, she taught 6th grade in San Diego, CA for four years. Drumm holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Duke University, and a master’s degree in elementary education and a post-master’s certificate in educational leadership from George Washington University.
