Kimball Elementary School

Johann Lee is the new principal at Kimball Elementary School for School Year 2016-2017. Lee has been with DC Public Schools for six years and currently serves as the assistant principal at Kimball Elementary School. He is most proud of helping to increase the number of students reaching proficiency by 28 percent on the Text Reading and Comprehension Assessment (TRC) while at Kimball. Prior his position as assistant principal, he was the social studies and science department chair at KIPP DC-Promise Academy and taught social studies to 6th and 8th graders at Hardy Middle School. Lee has a passion for public service and always strives to build a unified community to support his students’ academic success. In addition to his role as an educator, he has taught GED Prep with early release juveniles at the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services. He holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Temple University and a master’s degree in secondary education from The George Washington University.
