Ludlow-Taylor Elementary School

Andrew Smith is the new principal at Ludlow-Taylor Elementary School for School Year 2016-2017. Smith has worked in DCPS for seven years. He began as a 4th and 5th grade teacher at Tubman Elementary School, and has spent the last two years as an instructional coach and assistant principal at Garrison Elementary School. Under his leadership at Garrison, the percentage of students who were advanced in reading comprehension increased from 9 percent to 25 percent in two years. He received his bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the State University of New York at Buffalo, his master’s degree in teaching from American University, and his post-master’s certificate in educational leadership and administration from The George Washington University.
