Aileen Murphy began her career as a special education teacher in her hometown San Francisco. She also served as a middle school principal, high school principal and executive director of a SIG Zone. The high school showed record graduation rates and academic growth for African American and Latino students during her tenure.
Mrs. Murphy joined DCPS in 2012 as an experienced principal partner and then directed Twilight/Envision programs. In December 2015, she was named Cluster IV Interim Instructional Superintendent and was appointed Cluster IV Instructional Superintendent in July 2016.
Cluster IV includes Aiton ES, Brent ES, Burrville ES, Hearst ES, Lafayette ES, Ross ES, Seaton ES, Simon ES, Thomson ES, and Tubman ES.
