The Office of Food and Nutrition Services is responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality, nutritious and cost-effective food service to all children enrolled in DCPS.

The food service program promotes knowledge of nutritional needs to transform the dietary habits and regimen of DCPS students, and intervenes to relieve and reduce hunger among participants in its programs.

Currently, DCPS utilizes a food service management company to operate its food services operations: Chartwells-Thompson School Dining Services.

As part of the residency verification and enrollment process, families need to complete and submit the Family Application for School Lunch and Breakfast. This application helps DCPS receive federal reimbursements to provide nutritious meals. This will enable DCPS to provide meals to all children at selected schools at no charge.

To apply for free or reduced meals, complete and sign the Family Free or Reduced Meals application and return it to your youngest child’s school.
