Brooke Edgecombe is the middle school English language department chair and ELL teacher for grades 6-8 at LaSalle Backus Education Campus (LBEC). Before joining DCPS and LBEC four years ago, she taught middle school ESL in Virginia for 14 years. Last year, Ms. Edgecombe established partnerships with the Frederick Douglass Distinguished Scholars of American University, and with the not-for-profit City Blossoms, through the DCPS Adopt-a-School program. City Blossoms will help LBEC establish a new school garden which will serve as an outdoor learning space. Ms. Edgecombe recognizes the value of these and other partnerships to students and looks forward to helping make LBEC’s various partnerships strong and sustainable. Ms. Edgecombe is a long-time resident of Washington, D.C., and active in her community.
