Akua Oxendine has been dedicated to serving others. As a native Washingtonian from Northeast DC, she attended Amidon Elementary, Jefferson Junior High School, and HD Woodson Senior High School. Ms. Oxendine has been an educator for over 15 years. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Clark Atlanta University, a Master of Education from Bowie State University, and a Master of Public Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management. Her prior position was at a university as manager of student services, overseeing student advising, financial aid, registrar services, career services, student life and activities, and international students. Prior to that, she was a high school counselor in Prince George’s County Public Schools. Ms. Oxendine is the youngest of three children and has been married for two years. She has enjoyed being a part of the Payne family and has had a great time building lasting relationships and playing a positive role in ensuring students achieve excellence.
