Dr. Armandina A. Macias is a child and family centered school leader who has most recently served an assistant principal at DC Public Schools’ Horace Mann Elementary. Dr. Macias recognizes that teachers are also learners and believes that classrooms should be led by dynamic and compassionate teachers who are responsive to children and families. Dr. Macias brings expertise in Early Childhood to the district, as a mentor, teacher, researcher and advocate in the Early Childhood community. She has a broad range of program leadership experience including teacher evaluation and development, general education, museum education, art education, special education, and programs for English Language Learners. Prior to joining Mann, she was as a Senior Master Educator with the district’s teacher evaluation program. Dr. Macias has served on faculty at Northern Arizona University where she integrated concepts of inclusion, collaboration, and anti-bias education into the undergraduate pre-service teacher preparation curriculum. She holds degrees from The College of William, Mary and George Mason University, and The University of North Texas.
