Allecyn Howard

Allecyn Howard

Jefferson Middle School

Allecyn Howard is an Atlanta native who began her teaching career in Louisiana, teaching English, Special Education, and Health and Physical Education for five years before transitioning to a role as a Literacy Coach in New Orleans. In her career, she has also served as an Intervention and Leadership Development Manager for Teach For America and a Dean of Instruction for KIPP. During her first year at KIPP, Ms. Howard was responsible for over 80% of students achieving their reading growth goals and over 40% reaching or exceeding grade-level reading proficiency. 

In 2019, Ms. Howard joined DCPS as Assistant Principal at MacFarland Middle School, where she supported school culture and the implementation of technology integration school-wide. In her most recent role as a RISE (Rigorous Instruction Supports Equity) principal at McKinley Middle School, Ms. Howard supported the increase in student enrollment and a reduction in chronic absenteeism through the implementation of Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). Ms. Howard continues to be driven by her passion for creating equitable systems for students furthest from opportunity. 

Ms. Howard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature from Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College at Baton Rouge, a Master of Arts in Education from University of Phoenix, and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University.
