Anthony J. Tata
Chief Operating Officer
Anthony J. Tata serves as the DCPS Chief Operating Officer, overseeing the alignment of operations to seamlessly support all academic functions.
Prior to his appointment to Chancellor Rhee’s Executive Cabinet, Tony Tata served as a brigadier general in the United States Army.
A career paratrooper and infantryman, Tony has commanded and led large, complex military organizations in the 10th Mountain Division, 101st Airborne Division, and 82nd Airborne Division. He brings to DCPS recent experience in rapid acquisition and systems management from his roles as the deputy director of the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization and as the deputy commanding general of the Joint Task Force in Afghanistan.
Mr. Tata is a 1981 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. He earned an Master of Arts in International Relations from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC and a Master of Military Art and Science in Operational Planning from the School of Advanced Military Studies. He is a graduate of Harvard University’s JFK School of Government National Security Program and is currently in the 2009 cohort of the Broad Superintendent’s Academy.
