DC Public Schools Facilities Planning and Design (FPD)

Updated June 1, 2026: DCPS' Facilities Planning and Design (FPD) team has moved its website! The legacy Google website, linked here for convenience, will remain publicly visible until 5PM on Friday, June 26. After this time, the legacy website will be taken completely offline.

  • Please note, as of June 1, 2026, the legacy website is no longer actively monitored or updated. All further project updates for active FPD projects will be posted here on the main DCPS website.

Our Mission

The Facilities Planning and Design Team (formerly called the Facilities team) is comprised of two sub-teams that work collectively to design, create and maintain modern school facilities to ensure students are prepared to succeed. We adopt human-centered design principles to foster diverse, healthy, sustainable and inspiring learning environments that emphasize equity throughout the District.

1. The Modernizations Team (formerly called FPD) is responsible for planning and designing DCPS' modernizations, additions and expansions to ensure public schools are equipped to handle evolving programmatic needs.

2. The Small Capitals Projects (SCP) team is responsible for small renovation projects that solve a specific problem or make a targeted improvement ot a DCPS facility. Broadly, the Small Caps team fills the gap between larger FPD projects and routine maintenance work orders, submitted through Salesforce.

Meet the Facilities Planning and Design (FPD) team!
