Current Student Records Requests
Parents/Guardians can request student records for students currently attending a DCPS school by contacting the school in which the student is currently enrolled. For a listing of all open DC Public Schools and their numbers please visit the DCPS Profiles site.
Former Student Records Requests
Former student records requests should be submitted through the records request portal.
A system-generated message email notification will be sent with a reference number for tracking purposes. It is important to read the emails carefully because they contain additional information that may be required to process requests.
Required Documentation for Requests
- A valid state issued picture ID.
- A completed DPCS Authorization Release of Education Records form is required if requester is not the student or legal guardian of the student (if under the age of 18).
DCPS Authorization to Release Records
Per District policy and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) student records are only available to those who have authorization from the student or parent, guardian, or responsible person if the student is less than 18 years of age. If the student is 18 years of age or older, school records will not be released to a parent, guardian, or responsible person without the student’s written consent.
