Feeding Students is a Sacred Trust
At DCPS Food and Nutrition Services (FNS), we believe that feeding students is more than providing a meal—it’s a commitment to nourishing both body and mind, and a responsibility we’re honored to uphold on behalf of our community. FNS lives out this mission by:
- Creating Joyful, Delicious, and Nutritious Meals. We create meal experiences that bring joy and support healthy growth for every student
- Serving Inclusivity and Equity at Every Plate. Every meal reflects our dedication to fairness and respect for all.
- Treating Stakeholders as Teammates. We treat our partners like teammates--because they are,
- Using nutrition to Connect Home, Classroom, and Community. We use nutrition as a bridge to strengthen connections across all aspects of student life.
DCPS operates the following Child Nutrition Programs through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as administered by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE): National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Afterschool Snack Program, At-risk Child and Adult Care Food Program, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, and the Summer Food Service Program (also known as the DC Youth Meals Program). Please review the Letter to Households, located at the bottom of the page, for details on this year's meal programs.
