Project Overview
Burroughs Elementary School is a DC Public School located in the Brookland neighborhood of Ward 5. The project is a 75,000 square-foot modernization that will upgrade the building's systems and technology while meeting the District's sustainability goals through the achievement of LEED Gold and Net Zero certifications. The project also calls for the construction of a modular swing space campus, on the Burroughs field, containing approximately forty classrooms, a large multi-purpose space, a modular kitchen, two playgrounds, and covered, ADA-compliant access. The modernized Burroughs Elementary School will re-open its doors to students, staff and the Burroughs community in Summer 2027 for School Year 2027-28.
