Project Overview

     Seaton Elementary is a DC Public School located in Ward 2. The existing facility was built in 1969 in the Shaw Historic District. The project is a 91,000 square-foot modernization comprising a combination of new construction and renovation of the existing structure. The project will renovate the field south of the school and include all new playgrounds and parking facilities. The project will participate in the Percent for Art program, a Department of General Services (DGS) initiative that showcases commissioned works from international, national and local artists into District-wide construction and modernization projects. The modernized Seaton Elementary School will be opening its doors to students, staff and the Seaton community in Summer 2028, in time for School Year 2028-29. 

     Currently, Seaton is tentatively scheduled to swing at the KC Lewis Swing Space. This swing space is currently occupied, and configured for use, by adult learners at Howard University. DCPS will be completing substantial renovations to the KC Lewis swing space to prepare it for the arrival of Seaton Elementary students in Summer 2026.
