Green Cleaning at Roosevelt

Roosevelt High School is going green in its cleaning operations, thanks to Custodial Foreman Rhonda Keith and the entire custodial staff. With the support of Principal Aqueelha James, Roosevelt High School is recycling right and using cleaning products that are safe for the environment and safe for the health of students, teachers, and custodians. "Recycling properly actually makes our job easier," said Ms. Keith. "Bags are a lot easier to lift when waste has been put in the right bin."
The Healthy Schools Act requires all schools to use green cleaning products, For guidance on how to comply, view the District's sustainable purchasing guidelines here.

2016 Student Climate and Conservation Congress

Two graduates from Oyster-Adams represented DCPS in June 2016 at the Student Climate & Conservation Congress (Sc3). The Sc3 is a week long leadership training event held annually at the US Fish and Wildlife’s National Conservation Training Center (NCTC)--the nation's top environmental training facility. Participants, also known as Sc3 Fellows, spend a week studying and discussing environmental, social and economic interconnections to address climate change and conservation challenges affecting their generation.

The Congress is held the last week of June every year. Applications are accepted January-May.

2016 Ketcham ES ‘Big Dig’ with Real School Gardens

On Earth Day, Real School Gardens donated a garden and outdoor classroom to the students of Ketcham Elementary School. The garden was a huge hit.

Principal Riddlesprigger and her crew worked hard over the summer to get the garden ready for students to arrive on August 22.
