DCPS provides students and staff with access to internet, data, and network systems (DCPS network). DCPS also provides students and staff with access to computers, tablets, devices, and other technology, such as printers (DCPS devices or technology). The DCPS network and DCPS technology are provided to staff for planning, instructional, and administrative purposes; and provided to students for educational, research, and career development purposes.

This policy aims to establish standards for the acceptable uses of the DCPS network and DCPS technology; set expectations around the responsible use of artificial intelligence; prevent unauthorized and unlawful uses of the DCPS network and DCPS technology; and comply with the Children’s Internet Protection Act of 2000 (CIPA), the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Protecting Students Digital Privacy Act, and all other applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

This policy applies to all DCPS students, staff, visitors, and others who use the DCPS network or devices.
