At DC Public Schools, learning—not technology—is the goal. Our approach to digital learning is grounded in five instructional beliefs:

• Learning develops future-ready knowledge and skills for a world shaped by rapidly evolving technology. 
• Learning is supported by strong relationships within inclusive learning communities. 

Technology is one tool that helps bring these beliefs to life. DCPS uses technology purposefully when it strengthens instruction, deepens student thinking, expands access, supports individual learning needs, provides timely feedback, or helps students build digital literacy, digital citizenship, and AI literacy.

Our blended learning model combines the strengths of teacher-led instruction, peer interaction, hands-on learning, and purposeful technology so students get the learning experience they need. 

Technology does not replace great teaching or meaningful human interaction. Students continue to learn through discussion, collaboration, reading, writing, movement, hands-on experiences, productive struggle, and meaningful practice. Digital tools are used when they add clear value to the learning experience and help students engage more deeply, demonstrate what they know, build independence, and prepare for college, careers, and civic life.

• Digital Tool Dashboard - Explore the tools used across DCPS and learn how educational technology supports student learning. The dashboard provides transparent information about district approved apps, their usage, and alignment with student data privacy standards.
