Food & Nutrition Services

DCPS Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) supports student health and achievement by ensuring that all DCPS students receive nutritious meals that support academic success. We believe in providing appetizing school meals made from fresh, locally produced ingredients, and we strive to engage the entire DC community in implementing programs that encourage healthy decision-making and promote sustainable practices.

DCPS operates the following Child Nutrition Programs through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as administered by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE): National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Afterschool Snack Program, At-risk Child and Adult Care Food Program, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, and the Summer Food Service Program. Please review the Letter to Households, located at the bottom of the page, for details on this year's meal programs.

Food services are provided by Aramark Student Nutrition, DC Central Kitchen, DCPS Self-Operations, and SodexoMagic.  Check out the map to see which locations they serve!

Free and Reduced-Price Meal (FARM) Applications are now open! You must fill out a form each school year (after July 1st each year). Unsure if you qualify? Still fill out the form. Your information always stays confidential. Visit dcps.dc.gov/farm for More Information and Resources. Breakfast is always free for all DCPS students! 96 DCPS school communities serve lunch at no cost under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Check dcps.dc.gov/FARM for the list! Students automatically qualify for free lunch if they receive SNAP/TANF, or are unhoused, migrants, runaway, or in foster care. For those who do not qualify or complete a FARM application, lunch costs $3.00 per meal.

We believe everyone deserves to be heard. Please submit feedback, comments, or questions to Food and Nutrition Services.
