
Anthony Hiller, with an instructional background in both Social Studies and Language Arts, joined DCPS in 2013 after serving nearly seven years in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in North Carolina.
During his time in Charlotte, Anthony worked as a teacher, mentor, and instructional facilitator. In 2010, Anthony was selected as a founding staff member for the district’s first public Montessori middle grades program. As the program’s lead teacher, Anthony taught 7th and 8th graders in multiage classroom settings. Over 90% of Anthony’s students each year have achieved a level of proficient or above proficient on the North Carolina End of Grade Tests in Reading Comprehension.
Earlier in his career, Anthony was nominated and admitted into the district’s Leaders for Tomorrow cohort, which aims to develop and train future urban school leaders. In addition, Anthony has served on several school and district-level leadership groups, including three years as his school’s choice for Teacher Advisory Council.
Anthony is a proud graduate of Wayne State University (B.A. Social Studies) in 2005 and Winthrop University (M.Ed Educational Leadership) in 2012. In addition, Anthony achieved his National Board Certification in Early/Young Adolescence Social Studies in 2011.
Anthony will be serving DCPS as a Master Educator for Humanities.
