Fiscal Year 2021

Family and Community Guide

In this year’s Family and Community Guide to the DC Public Schools Budget [PDF], we share ways we aim to make the budget process more transparent, including the identification of all school funding sources, the release of school-specific narratives to explain year over year programmatic fluctuations in school budgets, and additional context on how Central Office funds are spent. You can also visit the Budget Engagement page to learn about the FY21 budget process.

School Budgets

Visit the DCPS Data Center to learn how school budgets are developed. The site also includes individual schools’ budgets for FY21 and past years.

Agency Budget

Mayor Bowser’s FY21 Proposed Budget and Financial Plan [PDF] shows the Mayor’s proposed budget, as presented to the Council, for DCPS overall. This document provides information on funding sources, budget codes, and DCPS’ agency performance plan. Note: This document accounts for holdouts (non-salary components of staff cost, such as IMPACT bonuses and retirement incentives) in the centrally managed School-Wide section. As a result, school budget totals differ from the DCPS Data Center, where holdouts are included for each school.
