
Gabriel Cartagena taught middle grades mathematics and served as a Grade Level and Department Chair in Miami-Dade County Public Schools and in a public charter school. He also worked as an Instructional Coach and Curriculum Support Specialist for Miami-Dade County. In these capacities, Gabriel provided professional development on standards-based curriculum, data-driven decisions, and questioning strategies as well as serving as a district curriculum and assessment writer.
During Gabriel’s time as a teacher, 100% of his students passed the Algebra I End-Of-Course Assessment. In addition, as an Instructional Coach, the proficiency level, student learning gains and learning gains of the lowest quartile increased at the school level. Gabriel was recognized as a Teacher of the Year and received the Superintendent’s Excellence in Teaching Award.
Gabriel earned a B.S. in Biology at the University of Miami. He is proud to serve DCPS as a Master Educator.
