Kizzy Blackwell

Kizzy Blackwell

Kizzy Blackwell joined the master educator program after serving students with disabilities for seven years with the Greenburgh Eleven Union Free School District in Dobbs Ferry, NY.  In this Special Act district, Kizzy taught sixth to eighth grade for two years at the Hairston Middle School.  She spent the last five years teaching ninth grade World History and Literature to special needs students at the Bethune High School.

During her teaching career, Kizzy was responsible for training colleagues on New York State ELA and Social Studies proctoring and grading procedures.  She was also responsible for creating curriculum maps for World History and Literature.  In the classroom, Kizzy was an avid user of technology, allowing her students the opportunity to develop projects using the internet.

Kizzy received specialized training in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention from Cornell University and the Ramapo Center for Children.  She has extensive experience in the Special Education process which includes referral, planning and implementation of the Individualized Education Program.

Recently, Kizzy received the prestigious REDC “40 Under 40 Award”, which is recognition for Rockland County residents under the age of 40 who exemplify outstanding community service involvement and professional excellence.

Kizzy studied at Binghamton University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in both History and English.  While working for the Greenburgh Eleven School District, Kizzy received her Master of Education degree from Mercy College, with a concentration in students with disabilities and Social Studies.

Kizzy is proud to serve DCPS as a Master Educator for Special Education.
