
LaWanna McClease is a mathematician turned educator with an insatiable thirst for knowledge and excellence. She has taught mathematics from 5th-12th grades as well as served as a mentor, department chair, grade level chair, and on various leadership and school improvement committees. In addition, she has developed and facilitated professional development sessions for helping teachers integrate technology into their instruction, creating interactive whiteboard games to support student achievement, and implementing the Common Core Math Standards to fidelity.
Outside of the classroom, Ms. McClease worked as an Instructional Coach with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. She was honored as part of the NCDPI District & School Transformation Team of the Year for 2012-2013 for the academic gains achieved in her school and in the district.
LaWanna holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Alabama A&M University and a Master of Education degree in Secondary Mathematics from the same great institution.
LaWanna will be serving as a Master Educator for the upcoming school year.
