Hardy Middle School
Maurine Westover was most recently an Assistant Principal at Ballou High School, where she led several academic initiatives, including work on the school’s redesign. She is most proud of her work building an instructional culture of professional learning communities and spearheading instructional shifts within the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department. Those initiatives resulted in over 200 students earning industry certifications in the past two school years.
As a teacher leader within diverse school settings, Ms. Westover implemented project-based learning experiences to support students in various Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and business classrooms. Her approach resulted in students surpassing state standards and excelling in various academic competitions. Ms. Westover believes that by ensuring classrooms are safe environments with rigorous and engaging instruction, educators can prepare all students for success in school and throughout their lives.
Ms. Westover holds a Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University. In addition, she has a master’s degree in school leadership from Harvard University and a Master of Science in Teaching from Georgia State University.
