Nancy Hodge

Nancy Hodge

Prior to joining DCPS as a Master Educator, Nancy spent 15 years teaching grades one through six on Chicago’s near south side.

Nancy has varied experience with both general and special education in a Title 1 school. As a general education teacher she participated in curriculum mapping for 1st and 2nd grade. Nancy also has extensive training and experience in the Special Education process which includes referral, planning, implementation and evaluation of the Individualized Education Program.

She has served on the Response to Intervention team and brings a collaborative spirit that fosters teamwork and communication to ensure student success. Nancy served as a co-chairperson for the School Improvement Team and participated in professional development trainings for colleagues. As a long standing member of the Building Leadership Team, Nancy worked to develop a school compact supported by clear and concise expectations for teachers, parents, and administration.

As a 2014 National Scholastic Educator of the Year Finalist, Nancy proudly showcased her students’ successes as represented by their increases in percentile rankings on measures of academic progress. This past year, Nancy had the opportunity to serve as a Scholastic Program Specialist. She assisted colleagues with the implementation of alternative reading curriculums and evaluation of student achievement through data driven instruction and achievement.

Nancy received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Saint Xavier University in Chicago, Il. She returned to her alma mater to attain a Masters Degree in Special Education.

Nancy is proud to serve DCPS as a Master Educator.
