Who are instructional coaches?
Instructional Coaches are school-based employees that provide job embedded professional development to teachers.
How do instructional coaches support teachers?
Instructional coaches set measurable goals and track student and teacher progress towards meeting those goals. They support teachers through the following ways:
- Collaborative Learning Cycles – Collaborative instructional support with a cohort of teachers with a focus on planning and student work analysis
- Individual Learning Cycles – Informal one-on-one instructional support through classroom observations, co-planning, co-teaching, and modeling lessons
-
Data Cycles – Collaborative meetings where data is analyzed to determine the impact of teacher practice on student learning
