Brandon Eatman

Eaton Elementary School

Brandon Eatman was born and raised in Hampton, Virginia.  He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Howard University.  He also earned a master's degree in educational leadership from George Mason University and an executive master's degree in leadership from Georgetown University. 

 Mr. Eatman is a 30-year veteran of DC Public Schools, having served as a paraprofessional, kindergarten teacher, Assistant Principal and Principal.  Mr. Eatman began his leadership journey as an Assistant Principal at the Capitol Hill Cluster School (Peabody, Watkins, and Stuart-Hobson).  After he served two years in that role, he led the Capitol Hill Cluster School for six years as Principal.  Under his leadership, at the Capitol Hill Cluster School student achievement increased by 14 percent in Math and 16 percent in Reading on the DC CAS.  

In 2011, Mr. Eatman became the founding Principal of Capitol Hill Montessori @ Logan where he led for seven years. During his time at Capitol Hill Montessori student achievement increased by 13 percent in Math, 8 percent in Reading, 27 percent in Writing and 14 percent on the overall school index score on the DC CAS and 24 percent in Math and 10 percent in Reading on the PARCC Assessment. 

 He left Capitol Hill Montessori @ Logan in 2018, to gain valuable experience as an Assistant Principal at Benjamin Banneker Academic High School.  During the pandemic, he worked as an Assistant Principal at Phelps A.C.E. High School. He became the Interim Principal at Phelps A.C.E. High School during the spring of 2022. In the summer of 2022, Mr. Eatman was hired as the DCPS Secondary Schools Principal in Residence.  In this role, he served as the Interim Principal at Roosevelt High School, Leckie Education Campus, Hardy Middle School and John Eaton Elementary School.  

Mr. Eatman puts children first and supports teachers and staff members so they can do their jobs effectively. He believes all children can learn at high levels and he seeks to create an environment where all students have access to effective high-quality curricula that are academically rigorous and culturally responsive and relevant.  Mr. Eatman values parents as partners and he works with them to create an inclusive environment that allows all stakeholders to feel safe, valued, cared for and have a voice.
