Brookland Middle School

Kerry Richardson is the new principal at Brookland Middle School for School Year 2017-2018. He comes to Brookland from Kelly Miller Middle School, where he has been the assistant principal for three years. Prior to working as the assistant principal at Kelly Miller, he served as both a teacher and instructional coach with DCPS. He also has teaching experience with Metro Nashville Public Schools. During his time at Kelly Miller, Richardson led the school’s family engagement work, which resulted in more than 290 home visits for 60 percent of the student population. Coming into the principal role, Richardson is most excited to instill resilience, perseverance, and the desire to learn in students. He received his bachelor’s degree in English from Fisk University and his master’s in journalism and mass communication from the University of Georgia.
