Katie Larkin is the Instructional Superintendent for Cluster 6. She is proud to have served in DC Public Schools since 2000. Ms. Larkin spent 10 years as a classroom teacher at Ross Elementary School before becoming the school’s instructional coach. In 2012, she became the assistant principal at Hearst Elementary School. She was later selected to become a member of the inaugural cohort of the Mary Jane Patterson Fellowship, a rigorous 30-month program designed to prepare DCPS's highest performing leaders for the principalship. As a fellow, Ms. Larkin served as a resident principal at Kelly Miller Middle School and Key Elementary School. She then served as the principal of H.D. Cooke Elementary School. During her four years at H.D. Cooke, PARCC achievement grew by 20% in ELA and 35% in math. In 2016, Ms. Larkin and her Academic Leadership Team were recognized with DCPS’ Standing Ovation Award for Excellence by an ALT. The following year she was recognized with the Rubenstein Award for Excellence in Leadership. Ms. Larkin holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Rhode Island College, a master’s degree in teaching from George Mason University, and an executive master’s in leadership from Georgetown University.
