As a Posse Scholar, Adam Temesgan, a student at Columbia Heights Education Campus (CHEC) has already had opportunities to explore his future home at the University of Rochester. On a recent trip organized by the Posse Foundation, current freshmen – including DCPS graduates – showed him around the campus and shared their advice for the transition to college. “Having that experience really benefited me in making sure that Rochester is the school I really want to go to.” Adam says that he has had an “amazing experience” at Columbia Heights Education Campus. He says he has appreciated the school’s diversity and the ways that the community has provided him opportunities to share information with his classmates about his home country of Ethiopia. “It’s a very accepting place.” From joining the debate and philosophy club, to participating on the track team, to getting a summer job through the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), Adam says, “I’ve managed to experience everything to the fullest.” #DCPSGoesToCollege
