Shaunte Daniel

Excel Academy (Interim)

Shaunte Daniel has invested her entire career in education to the students and families of DC Public Schools. She began this journey at Tyler Elementary in 2011 as an instructional aide before transitioning to being a teacher and then serving as an instructional coach for teacher development. Following those roles, she spent four years serving as an Assistant Principal at Langley Elementary and then Stanton Elementary.

While at Langley, she played an integral role in doubling PARCC scores in both English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. Ms. Daniel also invested and led the school into graduating from the Flamboyan Family Engagement partnership because of the intentional planning and sustainability of engaging all families into the school. At Stanton, she focused on creating strong systems, building community, and developing teacher capacity. Most recently, she was appointed principal at Ludlow-Taylor Elementary for School Year 2020-2021. There she led students, staff, and families through an unprecedented COVID-19 crisis by creating culture and academic systems that targeted mental wellness, connectedness, and prioritization of grade-level learning.

Ms. Daniel has a strong passion and purpose in providing meaningful and authentic educational experiences for students. She believes students will transform when given avenues to promote their potential and that teachers do the hardest work therefore focuses her strategies on teacher development and autonomy. Ms. Daniel remains committed to her efforts to inspire and teach while building a platform to learn and develop.

Shaunte Daniel holds a bachelor’s degree from Virginia State University and Master of Arts in Teaching from Trinity Washington University. She continued to expand her knowledge by completing the DCPS Leadership & Innovation Program from Georgetown University.
