Takoma Elementary School
Brandon Clayton graduated from Florida A&M University, a historically black university, with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in elementary education. He started his teaching career in Florida teaching 5th grade. It was during his first year as a teacher that he felt he had an exceptional ability to reach and motivate students. His passion led to helping his scholars achieve academic growth, accomplish their goals, and build proficiency in Reading and Writing.
After 10 years as a classroom teacher, Mr. Clayton received a Masters of School Administration and accepted a position as a Title I instructional literacy coach. In 2017, after two years as an Assistant Principal, Mr. Clayton accepted his first Principal position in Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Clayton recently relocated to the DMV area with his family. Principal Clayton is passionately known as the “Culture Changer” in which teachers feel inspired to take instructional risk that focuses on student achievement, and in turn inspires students and staff to love coming to school and work every day.
