Summer School Teacher (9 through 12) Position Overview

The Teacher, Summer School / 9th through 12th grade position is located in the secondary public schools that have been selected to host the Summer School Program within the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) system. Under the direction of the Summer School Principal, the Teacher, Summer School plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students.  The Teacher facilitates academic recovery lessons that support and enhance students’ learning and that are aligned with school-day instruction.  The Teacher is responsible for planning lessons that are interactive, engaging, and meaningful to students and also for providing opportunities for students to practice independently and/or in groups.  The Teacher is responsible for providing instruction in the subject(s) for which s/he is hired.  

The Teacher, Summer School / 9th through 12th grade will work seven-and-a-half hours per day (8 am – 3:30 pm), five days per week for a total of 37.5 hours per week.
