McKinley Technology High School senior Craig Washington wants to be a data researcher for the National Institutes of Health, so he’ll study biology at Morehouse College next year. He’s also planning to minor in IT since he’s been in the NAF IT Academy at McKinley, but his AP Biology class pushed him onto a different path. “I want to see how diseases are passed down through generations.” He’s looking forward to getting out of DC, and says that the “culture at Morehouse is very fitting to what [he] envisioned for a college experience.” Craig is grateful to McKinley Tech for giving him so many opportunities, including two study abroad trips, an internship at the Department of Commerce, and seven AP classes, all on top of his participation on the track team, in Model UN, and as an ambassador for the school. He’s managed it all by doing schoolwork first, and then balancing out athletics and other duties, and he says he’ll miss the support system. “Everybody here is a close-knit family. We all support each other.” #DCPSGoesToCollege
