Eastern High School

Dr. Kourtney Miller is a distinguished educator and transformative leader whose work is grounded in excellence, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to student success. She is dedicated to creating meaningful academic experiences and cultivating a culture where students, staff, and families thrive. Guided by strong character and a belief in leading with purpose, Dr. Miller strives to ensure that every learner receives a high quality, enriching educational experience. 

With a strong academic foundation in Mathematics, Dr. Miller graduated Magna Cum Laude from South Carolina State University, where she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, played for the Lady Bulldogs tennis team, and was crowned Miss South Carolina State University. She later relocated to the Washington, DC area to continue her studies at Howard University, earning both her master’s and doctorate degrees in Mathematics. 

In 2008, she founded her own tutorial company, serving more than 100 clients while simultaneously working in Prince George’s County Public Schools and charter schools across the District of Columbia. Her passion for teaching and commitment to excellence led her to transition into a full time high school teaching role at Cesar Chavez in 2011. Over the years, she served in multiple leadership capacities, including senior class advisor, pageant coordinator, coach, assistant principal, principal, and ultimately Head of Schools. She later joined DC Public Schools as the Director of Secondary Math at Central Services and most recently served as Assistant Principal at H.D. Woodson STEM High School. Across every role, Dr. Miller and the teams she has led have achieved significant qualitative and quantitative results that have strengthened outcomes and positively impacted the lives of the students and staff they served. 

Rooted in faith and guided by a spirit of service, Dr. Miller and her family are active members of the churches of Christ, where they teach Bible study and support community outreach. Her vision is to be an exemplary leader who champions academic excellence, leads by example, builds systems that promote scholastic achievement, and empowers students and educators to reach their fullest potential.
