Ketcham Elementary School
LaCondria Beckwith has been a member of the DC Public Schools community for 16 years. She began her career as a 4th grade teacher at Bruce Monroe Elementary School. After five years of teaching, she became an Instructional Coach at Garfield Elementary School. During her time as an instructional coach, the school increased their English Language Arts (ELA) PARCC scores by 17 percent in two years and the school's Text Reading Comprehension (TRC) reading proficiency increased to 70 percent.
Most recently, Ms. Beckwith was an assistant principal at Walker-Jones Education Campus. As an assistant principal at Walker-Jones, she led the literacy team to raise ELA PARCC scores by 10 percentage points and Reading Inventory scores by 34 percentage points. She believes that the key to a successful school is to create a collaborative environment with data-driven instructional practices. She sincerely enjoys being an educator and will always be a “teacher at heart.”
Principal Beckwith holds a bachelor’s degree from Howard University and a master’s degree from Trinity University. In addition, she was also a member of the Georgetown Leadership and Innovation Program (LIP) for Aspiring Principals during the 2020 school year.
