
Boone Elementary School
Ms. Hutchins brings 25 years of experience in education, and eight of those years have been spent serving the students of DCPS. Prior to joining the Boone team, she was a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) educator, math instructional coach, and served as 6th Grade Academy assistant principal at Ida B. Wells Middle School. She began SY 2025-2026 as assistant principal at Malcolm X Elementary School, also in Ward 8, before transitioning into Boone’s Interim Principal role in December 2025.
During her time in leadership, Ms. Hutchins has used her experience to support instructional excellence, professional development, and curriculum implementation. She prides herself on her ability to develop robust systems that improve learning outcomes and foster collaboration among staff, ensuring that all students have access to high-quality instruction and a supportive learning environment. In SY 2023-2024, Ms. Hutchins was recognized by DCPS as a highly effective educator and received the DCPS Excellence in School Leadership Standing Ovation Award for her work at Ida B. Wells.
As a double alumna of Xavier University in Louisiana, Ms. Hutchins hold a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in chemistry and a master’s degree in secondary education and teaching.
