Sara Arranz

Sara Arranz

Shirley Chisholm Elementary School

Ms. Arranz brings nearly three decades of experience in education, including more than 15 years serving students, families, and educators within DCPS. She began her career as a classroom teacher and has since held a range of leadership roles, including instructional coach, dual-language coordinator, and, most recently, assistant principal.

During her time as Chisholm’s assistant principal, Ms. Arranz has led schoolwide literacy, early childhood, and biliteracy initiatives. Across Chisholm’s student populations, she has implemented the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), which is DCPS’ preventative, data-driven framework designed to meet the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of all students. By strengthening MTSS Tier 1 instruction, Chisholm has seen improved outcomes for multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and economically disadvantaged students.

Shaped by her experiences working across four countries, Ms. Arranz brings a global perspective rooted in wellness, belonging, and academic success and bolstered by collaboration and inclusive practices. Educated primarily in Spain, Ms. Arranz holds a Master of Arts in Spanish as a Second Language from the University of Jaén and a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from the University of Valladolid.
